Annual Meeting

Board Write-in Candidates

We welcome and encourage anyone interested to run for board positions. This year we have two additional nominees for open board positions. These will have to be “write in” candidates because the annual meeting packet had been printed and mailed before information was received. Names and bios are below:

Steve Hunt
I am a retired business owner, and have owned property in Beaver Springs since 1981. Our cabin is a refuge for us, and we dearly love the time we spend there, although it always seems to end too soon. I served on the Association board for several years in the mid-80’s. I have time now, some skills, and I am willing to serve again.

Ed Nazarowitz
I am running for a position on the Beaver Springs Ranch Association Board.

I have been a full time resident of Beaver Springs since October of 2005. I have spent my adult life in community service as a volunteer fireman, a member of the US army, 25 years as a police officer, and most recently six years as a member of the Beaver Springs Board.

My governing philosophies are open and honest government responsible to the membership. I believe in physical responsibility and spending money that is necessary to maintain a safe and functioning Association and not spending money because we have it.

In closing numerous people know I am not afraid to get my hands dirty or break a sweat working for the association, or to assist a neighbor in need.

Winter Restrictions

Main Gate Lock Change Notice

Winter gate restrictions have been lifted. The main gate lock has been changed.

Personal vehicles may be driven on the roads. Four-wheel drive vehicles are recommended for the next couple weeks. Use caution as some roads may be muddy or have residual snow in a few areas. Mud Hill should be avoided.

TRUCKS AND COMMERCIAL VEHICLES ARE PROHIBITED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE.

Be certain to always lock the main gate. Leaving it open compromises security for the entire BSR property.
UPDATE: The roads have dried out enough. Trucks and commercial vehicles are no longer restricted.

Annual Meeting

BSR Annual Meeting—Monday, May 8, 2017

The BSR Annual Meeting will be held Monday, May 8, 2017 beginning at 7:00pm. Meeting location is the same as last year: Murray Library, 166 East 5300 South, Murray, Utah.

The board positions for Randy and Claire are open for election. Please contact Brad Peterson if you are interested in running for one of the positions. A short bio must be provided to Brad by April 1st.

Winter Restrictions

Winter Roadside Parking

Parking near BSR can be difficult in the winter. We have very limited roadside parking which does not get plowed. The Summit County Sheriff’s Department reminds us to keep in mind that snowplow operators need a clear path to plow the full width of the roads.

This past weekend, several vehicles were parked too close to the road and were issued warnings. In the future, such vehicles will be subject to ticketing and towing. The sheriff’s department is asking for our cooperation to not park close to the canyon road.

Summit County ordinance #346 simply states “no on street parking” and “vehicles or other obstacles which hamper snow removal operations.” To avoid ambiguity, we are working on getting more specific details as to what “close” means.

3rd Party Services

Republic Services Billing for Garbage Collection

Summit County has contracted with Republic Services for garbage collection beginning in 2017. Most property owners in Weber Canyon received a $36 billing notice for 2017 annual garbage collection from Republic Services. There is confusion about the purpose of the collection fee. The notice referenced that it was for a “65 gallon cart,” even if the property owner did not have a 65 gallon cart. The Upper Weber Canyon Property Owners Association has been in contact with the Summit County Landfill Superintendent. After discussion, their recommendation, at this point, is to pay the invoice “under protest” to avoid a late payment penalty. More information will be available after the next Summit County Council meeting.

Winter Gate Rules in Effect 11/29/2016

As a result of the recent snow storms, main gate winter rules will go into effect by end of day November 29, 2016. The main gate lock will be changed by this time. Access for most individuals will be through the snowmobile gate using your current summer key. Please keep the gate closed and locked at all times. Exercise extreme caution when on the roads.

Preliminary Notification of Gate Lock Change

The main gate still has the summer lock, but with the storms coming in the next week that could change quickly. The hill leading down from the gate is already getting icy and snowy. It doesn’t melt here as well as most other areas of BSR because of the hillside shadows. Please use extra caution when travelling down or up any section of road with snow or ice.

The main gate will be kept open as long as possible, but a change can occur quickly depending on weather and road conditions. When the roads became unsafe to navigate in personal road vehicles, winter gate rules will go into effect. We will post notice of the lock change as soon as we have a definitive date.

Road Maintenance

Water line work – ROAD CLOSURE

Water line work will take place along the meadow road on Tuesday, November 8th, from about 9:00 am to 1:00 pm. This will require the road to be closed for about 1½ hours during that 4 hour time frame. If REQUIRED, the contractor will be able to assist with EMERGENCY ONLY entrance/exit. Please plan your schedules so that the work can be completed without interruption and the road opened again as quickly as possible.

3rd Party Services, Fire Restrictions, Spring Cleanup

2016 DNR Chipping Confirmed — Exact date(s) not yet known

The DNR has confirmed that they will again chip wood piles this year ….. similar to last year.  It is important that the wood piles be properly stacked as shown in the accompanying pictures.  Wood chips will be left on your property.  Stacked wood should be placed close to the main BSR roads, easily accessible by work crews.

Chipping dates will be posted as soon as we are notified. Significant advanced notice may not be possible.  Please clean your properties now in preparation for DNR work.

We appreciate the work and cleanup efforts already evident throughout the BSR area.    Your cleanup efforts earned us a Firewise USA award for 2015 and contribute to a similar recognition for 2016.
