Summit County has increased fire danger to “high” as Stage 1 fire restrictions are implemented across the Wasatch Back.

Residents can sign up for text alerts on Red Flag warnings, fire conditions, prescribed burns and more by texting SCFIRE to 91896.

Safety Precautions

Due to elevated wildfire risk in the area, Rocky Mountain Power is implementing additional safety measures. Their enhanced safety settings and protective devices will automatically de-energize power lines when debris, wildlife, or strong winds come into contact with them. No advanced notice will be provided for these outages.

As a result, customers should expect more frequent and longer duration outages while physical inspections of the systems before safely restoring power. Rocky Mountain Power recommends those with medical needs consider backup power options.
