Fireworks ban 2020

The Utah State Forester has ordered a ban on discharging or using any fireworks for all unincorporated areas of Summit County, starting now through the end of November.

In a statement issued earlier today, State Forester Brian Cottam said he came to the decision, in consultation with county officials, due to the current and forecasted conditions, combined with extremely dry vegetation in northeastern Utah.

The order does not affect private lands within incorporated towns or city limits. An exemption applies if a person has a Display Operator license from the state fire marshal and a local permit required where the display takes place.

Violations of the order are punishable by up to six months in jail and a fine of up to $1,000.
